Hi. I'm Sid 👋🏽

I've always found self-promotion uncomfortable, but I wouldn't regularly read someone's writing without knowing who they were, so here's my story.

Since I was 15 and first encountered game theory, I've been fascinated by how we make decisions. This curiosity led me down two parallel paths: the analytical world of decision science and the contemplative realm of ancient wisdom. These seemingly different paths have converged in unexpected ways throughout my journey.

What I've Learned

We live in a world of duality. As society oscillates between war and peace, globalism and tribalism, connection and isolation, we're constantly navigating complex choices. To stay aloof is often not an option. Yet the most profound duality exists within ourselves – the eternal dance between our inner world and outer actions.

I've fallen in love with a spiritual tradition that holds as its highest examples individuals who left everything in search of knowledge, inner peace, and happiness. And when I say everything, I mean everything – these people gave up palaces to live in forests, sleeping under different trees each night! As someone building a seemingly normal life (with a job in tech, living in New York City), I've discovered that the real challenge lies in harmonizing these profound teachings with modern living.

What I Bring to the Table

My background spans both academic and experiential learning:

  • Formal education in philosophy, behavioral economics, and computer science
  • A graduate degree in decision science
  • Years of professional experience across various industries
  • Deep study of both Eastern and Western philosophical traditions
  • Practical experience in applying ancient Sanskrit wisdom to modern life

Over the years, I've developed frameworks that help navigate decision-making while maintaining inner peace. This blog serves as a space where these worlds intersect – where game theory meets Sanskrit texts, where modern decision science converges with ancient wisdom.

What You'll Find Here

A Sid Note explores three main themes:

  1. Applied wisdom for modern life - translating ancient teachings into practical insights for today's challenges (found at Two Feet In The Boat)
  2. Decision-making frameworks that honor both external effectiveness and internal harmony (found at Harmonic Decisions)
  3. Reflections on technology, business, and spirituality – and how they intersect in our daily lives

I make ancient Sanskrit texts accessible to modern readers while showing how their principles remain surprisingly relevant to contemporary challenges. When I discuss business or technology (my professional expertise), I'll always connect it back to deeper principles of wisdom and decision-making.

I'm keeping this blog free because my goal isn't monetization – it's service. I already have a day job; this is my way of contributing to the conversation about how we can make better decisions while maintaining inner peace in our complex modern world.

A Humble Disclaimer

My journey in both decision-making and spiritual life is very much in progress. Everything I share comes from my own ongoing learning and the generous teachings of those who've guided me. Think of this blog as my way of learning out loud, and paying forward what I've received.

Welcome aboard.
